5th November 2016

A very busy day at Wellesbourne today. An early start saw us preparing the aircraft, connecting the tug and loading all the support equipment ready for a trip across the airfield as soon as the tower opened at 0900.

After we got XM655 into position, we were able to carry out five complete aircraft start sequences, giving the raffle winners from WWW2016 and lots of our volunteers the opportunity to experience what goes on inside the cockpit. Isi Jackson and Roger Bowen made their second appearances as AEO and P2 respectively, and Anne-Marie Walduck and Charles Brimson both carried out the P1 role, each for the first time.

The aircraft performed very well, only throwing one fault at us which was a lack of electrical output from the AAPP. It didn’t affect any of our other EGR activities, and we will work on fixing it during the winter. We ended with a short taxy to check the brakes and nose wheel steering, with Roger on the pedals.
