Five days at work to recover from last weekend’s exertions, and the 655MaPS team were back at the pan bright and early this morning. The aircraft was pulled out onto the taxyway for a photoshoot in preparation for a starring role on Flypast’s Christmas issue cover.
We took the top off the Houchin GPU and found that the DH-Vampire starting attempts last weekend had fried the 28v Transformer-Rectifier Unit, so that came out and the 200v control system was modified so we can continue to offer systems demonstrations to our visitors while the TRU is being fixed. We also test-ran the AAPP to confirm last weekend’s refusal to start was only a low aircraft battery (it was), and did some much needed housekeeping of our spare aircraft wheels.
